So, I'm diving back into music production after some time away. (Let's hope my music theory hasn't completely fossilized!)

The thing is, building a new computer these days feels like deciphering hieroglyphics. Can someone point me in the right direction before I accidentally buy a $5000 toaster oven?

This PC is purely for recording purposes. Do I need to go all-in on the CPU, or can I skip a fancy graphics card? (Those things are more for, like, epic music videos with laser beams, right?)

Speaking of graphics, are fancy plugins these days GPU-accelerated, or am I good with the built-in graphics?

Noise isn't a huge concern (because, let's be honest, drums are already pretty loud), but for the audio interface, I need something modern with at least 8 inputs that can grow with me. USB or Thunderbolt? What's the hotness these days?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Hopefully, with your help, I can avoid any major tech blunders and be recording those fire tracks in no time.

All the components used to make Jackbox, the PC in my studio. It's able to handle all the bizarre nonsense needed for the LinuxGameCast live streams.

CPUAMD Ryzen 5600G
RAMCorsair Vengeance LPX 16GB
MOBOMSI B550-A PRO
GPUNA
StorageSilicon Power 256GB NVMe
PSU:EVGA 600 B1
Firewire:

StarTech PEX1394B3

For a no fuss interface with 8+ inputs, look at the Behringer UMC1820 or Scarlett 18i20. You can snap on an addition 8 inputs by adding an ADA 8200 or MOTU 8-pre.
