PROBLEM

On r/podcasting, I sometimes see people searching for unprocessed audio for download to practice mixing, editing, and restoration. Unfortunately, a reliable source for such resources seems nonexistent, which is a shame.

SOLUTION

The dry multitrack for Linux Game Cast episode 599, featuring three hosts and clocking in at roughly one hour, is now available. It retains all the natural sounds (pops, clicks, breaths, background noise) and the occasional uncomfortable silence.

DOWNLOAD

All files are 24-bit/48 kHz FLAC.

STEMS ≠ MULTITRACKS

You may have arrived searching for stems, but multitracks are likely what you truly need. Stems are stereo recordings derived from mixes of several individual tracks. Multitracks, on the other hand, consist of all the distinct elements of an audio production, each with its own dedicated track.

These terms are not synonymous, regardless of popular misconception 🙂

Which Linux program would you recommend for listening to FLAC files?

The simplest way to mess around with the FLAC files would be to drag them into Audacity.
